El agua es el elemento esencial para la vida: donde hay agua tambi\u00e9n se encuentra vida. Pero la relaci\u00f3n del ser humano con el agua no siempre es benigna. <\/p>

Los conflictos relacionados con el acceso al agua limpia y dulce est\u00e1n aumentando en todo el mundo, a medida que la oferta disminuye y la demanda crece.<\/p>

Mientras tanto, las aguas residuales no tratadas representan un peligro creciente para la salud y el medio ambiente.
La mitad de las aguas residuales dom\u00e9sticas y urbanas del mundo se vierten sin el tratamiento adecuado, lo que provoca la contaminaci\u00f3n de r\u00edos, lagos, mares y tierras de cultivo.<\/p>

Esto propaga enfermedades, degrada los suelos, da\u00f1a la vida silvestre e incluso libera gases de efecto invernadero como el metano, contribuyendo casi tanto al cambio clim\u00e1tico como el sector de la aviaci\u00f3n.
El panorama es a\u00fan peor si incluimos las aguas residuales de la industria y la agricultura, de las cuales el 90% no se reutiliza.<\/p>

El tratamiento ecol\u00f3gico y de bajo impacto de las aguas residuales puede permitir su reutilizaci\u00f3n para lavar y descargar inodoros en las casas, para irrigar y fertilizar cultivos o para generar calor, biog\u00e1s y electricidad. De hecho, se puede obtener cinco veces m\u00e1s energ\u00eda de las aguas residuales de la que se requiere para procesarlas en los sistemas de tratamiento convencionales.<\/p>

En esta serie de v\u00eddeos aprenderemos m\u00e9todos ecol\u00f3gicos para tratar y reutilizar diferentes tipos de aguas residuales dom\u00e9sticas: desde la lluvia, de cocinas y ba\u00f1os (conocidas como aguas grises) y de inodoros (conocidos como aguas negras).<\/p>

Tambi\u00e9n aprenderemos sobre los aseos secos de compostaje, que evitan la generaci\u00f3n de aguas residuales al tratar los desechos humanos directamente en el sitio.<\/p>

Al aplicar estas t\u00e9cnicas simples y de bajo costo a escala, podemos mejorar nuestra relaci\u00f3n con el agua y preservar nuestro medio ambiente para que lo disfruten las generaciones futuras.<\/p>
