Welcome to Abrazo House, an ecological study centre in the mountains of northern Spain.

Our aim is to learn to live well and in a sustainable way, in harmony with our own specific place, and to help others to do the same – while having fun in the process.

Since 2005 we have built a main house, a guest cabin and a playhouse – all at low cost, using mainly recycled and natural materials – earth, straw, stone, wood – with the help of volunteers from around the world. We have also begun the process of converting the land – two acres (0.8ha) of former pasture – into a diverse, productive and largely self-maintaining edible landscape.

Abrazo House is an ongoing, ambitious project, and a permanent work in progress. We are always experimenting and learning from our successes and failures. We welcome visitors (either individuals or organised groups) who want to participate, and who are willing to work hard in exchange for food and accommodation.

NEWS March 2013: We are now looking for volunteers for spring/summer 2013.
